I've been wanting to drop my Ranger for a long time and have a good job now and will hopefully be able to soon. I've asked a couple guys I know about it and they tell me not to waste my money on a drop kit and just save up until I can afford to bag it. I think bagged trucks are awesome, but I'm one of those chicks who likes to do as much of the work as I can, and the thought of cutting and welding and such kinda scares me. Not like I don't think I can do it, just that I don't know how. Maybe this is something I could learn down the road, but for now I just want to drop my truck. I'm looking at the DJM 4/5 drop with coils, control arms, and flip kit.

i dropped my 98 s10 3/4 and i wanna go 5/6 but i cant afford that. i think static drops are awesome on any truck, esp if you cant afford bags yet. im trying to save up so i can buy bags but with a 10 month old its hard....

i like static and bagged. the thing i tell people is it's usually a vicious cycle. first you want dropped, then bagged, then bodydropped etc..

but it's not really a waste of money. drop kits bolt on, so if you don't use the components when bagged you can always sell them. i'm sure someone would pick them up in a heart beat.

on the cutting and welding part, i would recommend a community college course. that should give you enough knowledge on how to install a bag setup. the only down side is all the equipment is pretty exspensive.

Thanks for the input. I don't have the money to buy the kit, but I can buy one piece at a time and get it in a couple months. Can't wait to get started!

yeah, nothing wrong with a static drop first. That's what I'd suggest. Even if you do decide to bag it, don't do it alone and expect to learn as you go. I think some guidance never hurts.
