nice project! i'm a big fan of the old school mazda/couriers! i'm not to familiar with the suspension though... are they a torsion suspension or do they use coils in the front?

yeah courriers are torsion suspension. i had a 73 and it actually sat almost on the floor by replacing the torsion bolts with longer ones and turning them down. just turn your torsion bars down in front and go with a 3 or 4 inch block for the rear. if you dont know where they are, post and im sure either me or someone else can tell you where they are

well on mine i took off the shifter boot and reached the bolts that way. but jack it up, and look on the suspension back towards the shifter and theres 2 long bolts that stick down (one on each side of the tranny) turn them one way and it raises the truck, turn them the other way and it lowers the truck. i think you can only go about 4 or 5 inches unless you replace the bolts. if the bolts turn and it doesnt go anywhere, you might need to have someone else hold a wrench on top of them. just look for them, im sure youll find them.

ok so i dont know who that guy is up there that says couriers ARE TORSION... couriers have never been torsion EVER... not in NORTH AMERICA.. how do i know you ask.. i have build a bagged and body dropped 73 mazda and guess what.. NO TORSION BARS.. i have lowered my 81 ford courier and guess what NO TORSION BARS.. you see those springs sitting behind your front wheel in between the lower control arm and upper spring pearch... if you have springs YOU DO NOT HAVE TORSION...
i wish some people had a clue before telling others the wrong info...
if you plan on bagging the truck.. what you should buy is a torsion bar bag kit.. NO THIS TRUCK DOESN NOT HAVE TORSION BARS.. but its what works the best once you cut out your spring upper and modify your lower control arm to fit bags...

well than mine wasnt the original suspension cause i had a 74 datsun also and i know what torsion bars are. so dont go tell me i need to get a clue cause if i still had it i would post pictures of my 73 courier with TORSION bars. im not saying they came with them im just saying mine had them cause thats how i lowered mine. maybe the guy i bought it from (that bought it from someone else and couldnt get it running) failed to tell me the suspension wasnt factory.
