what part of the ignition did you run it off of the starter coil or solenoid for the starter or the coil for the plugs. if you want to protect from theft i would run it off the ignition starter coil so it does not start when you flip the key. this would be in series with it to the coil from the ignition switch for the key. if it is a kill switch to stop deaseling this is when your car continues to run when you turn the key off  you can put a switch in series with the ignition spark plug  coil positive wire. and just run it right back were it came from. just do not for get to turn it back on so it will start.hope that help ya

was the switch fused at all if so check fuses if not the switch may be dead. i have use switches from walmart rated at 10-15 amps when you really needed 20-30 amps.  it was a led switch if this helps.

either some thing like this or a relay switch combo. the low voltage side of the relay controls the high voltage side of the relay for the starter stuff. if it to expensive to get one of these switches just go to autozone and get a relay for your truck for like a electric fan. and either solder or use crimp connectors to connect it.    there is five  ways on all relay two wire of the five  go to the coil the other two go to the device to be controlled got to wire it so the normal open is the one you got when the switch is turn off so it unlatches when off. so out of five wire you use 4 only.

here is the relay needed
part#r3074
http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=BOR&MfrPartNumber=R3074&PartType=588&PTSet=A

from the positive side of the battery to threw a fuse to the switch out of the switch to pin 85 of the relay  out of pin 86 to the negative side of the battery. is one loop or circle short for circuit.

the other terminals are for what you are doing from the positive side of the device just cut the wire and put the relay in the middle of it. in pin 30 and out either 87 or 87a which ever looks like it is a open circuit switch or not contacting the pin is the one needed.

if you need drawing's it is on the case for the relay.

it pin 87 for the n.o. circuit. if you buy two relays and have a alarm i could tell you how to wire it in series so if some one happens to figure it out and flips the switch you can push the alarm button to kill the engine lol as they drive off.
