How do you compensate for voltage drops? What alternators are you running? Suggestions? Are you running dual alternators?

Try a Capacitor.

dude have one, and don't really notice a big difference. Or maybe I'm just used to it now. Has anyone had a capacitor make a noticeable difference? Thanks.

Dual battery vs. upgraded alternator, or both??? What's the most bang for your buck?

if you go with dual batteries all your using it for is an extra large capacitor. the best bang for the buck would definatly be an upgraded alternator. check with your local alternator shop, they could probably rebuild your stocker with and beefier set of diodes and you should be able to get 130 amps or so. i had this done on my old s-10 that had 1000 watt and and three viair 450's the guy did it for about 60 bucks. way better than buying a 300dollar aftermarket alternator.

hmmm yeah didn't consider a rebuild instead of a new one.

I'm looking at putting dual batteries and a bigger alternator , but then again i am going to be building an insane sound system this year some time . I'm gonna have a pair of 1400 watt (each) 12's behind the seat along with 4 6x9's replace the dash speakers add 5 1/4 components in the doors with tweets on the a-pillar in the bed i'm gonna have a pair of 2800 watt (each) 15's 4 more 6x9's and 2 pair of 6 1/2 components with 4 1" tweets all said it will end up pushing 11,200 watts total . I', also going with a pair of 6 farad digital caps . If it all works right , which it should , it will be all clear as far as sound quality and massive bump .

i have seen the difference a capacitor makes. my friend used to have a Dodge Stealth with 2 12" Almani subs powered by a ridiculious 3,000 watt amp, that was almost too loud! we could be driving down the road, crank a 50 Cent song and watch the voltmeter dance, even at 3,000 rpm's. he put in dual capacitors and the voltmeter dancing stopped. i didnt think it would help out that much either, but it made a huge difference.
Check out my small and tall Jeeps and tell me what you think!

got a question. I have an 03 dime and i am trying to relocate my battery to my bed.I am using 2 gauge wire and the factory ground wire and for some reason an optima battery wont start my truck. The truck has a four banger in it and no power options.

Try upsizing the ground , and attach it to a totally rust free and paint free spot on the frame , as far as power wire goes , might try a 0 gauge . Gotta remember the longer distance your starter is from the battery , the more amps it'll pull and the larger the wire you'll need to make up for it .

I tried that and even with my compressors and my stereo unhooked the starter just clicks.I put my battery back in the front of the truck and it fires with no problem.I had my factory ground wire right to the frame on a clean spot of bare metal and still nothing.I even have the spot on the block that holds the factory ground grounded to the frame.I dont get it,i know it can be done. How??

cap are not worth it there just a band-aid get a alternator and do the big three wires. power wire to batt ground to engine/ frame and wire to amp. then up grade to a second bat or buy a kinetic batcap.
here is a place i have been using for a wile and there alts work awesome. they cost less then power master and come with a life time warranty.
