Static Minis Never In MT.

Been readin minitruckin for about 7 years now and I have only had one problem with the mag. I have never seen an article featuring a static dropped mini. I dont really think its fair to put a certain type of mini (IE.. bagged, bodydropped, etc) in when everyone sees MTin' as a community. Why single out ones that arent so low? I have been building my truck from the frame up for 4 years and this year it will be ready for shows, only thing is that Im static, 6/7 drop with 17in rims, and feel i cant compete with half the minis out there b/c im not bagged. When in all honesty, not to sound arrogant, I could beat most of them with their haggard set ups and half ass interiors. It just sucks that all the work i have done won't really get me anywhere b/c Im not on air.

what do you static, or bagged, guys think about this?

i def. agree with you. i have a 86 mazda thats just lowered and currently buying a dime to just lower. i can afford bags but i have a little child and dont think it would be safe to drive around with him in it. something could blow out, cause they are daily drivers, or he could hit the switches while we are driving. the only way we can get in the mag is in readers rides and sometimes they make you sound like a joke. im not dissing the mag because i love it but we want to see more static dropped mini and real life situations. all the rides in there have thousands upon thousands of money put in them in a pretty short amount of time. but what about us middle class ppl.

I have my dime bagged and have a switch on my dash to disable my switchbox when lil ones are in my truck . As far as  safety goes , i feel fine havin my lil one in my truck with me ridin around . If i didn't think my truck was safe , i wouldn't even drive it PERIOD . As far as something blowin and all that stuff , i am making a set of removeable bump stops so if a line or bag blows , it won't lay down when i am driving down the road .

Of course i drag my tag .

I love this datsun, and it was featured, it only has cranked torsions and 4 inch blocks. I drive my dime static dropped 5/6. I buy minitruckin to see slammed trucks, as my s-10 will be bagged eventually. While I admit I have seen plenty of bag jobs done in peoples garages that are unsafe, many bag jobs are done properly. If your truck is built properly, and heat and sharp objects are kept away from the bags and airlines, then they will last a long time. Your setup is only as unsafe as you build it/ allow it to be built. I also have seen some switch boxes that have a lock feature to prevent unwanted adjustments to the suspension while driving.

my dime im working on is static w/airspring (got it that way) for now, and im wanting to bagg but cant afford (working at walmart). in sport truck (sorry MT but got to say this) they're doing a static gen1 dime (same as mine), and im getting the mags that have the truck in it. also i know a guy who had a lockin button so friends dont hit the switches. i would like to see and hear more about statics, and still have bagged there as well.

ok but anyways thats not the point here thanks for the safety stuff but some of us still want to see some static drops in minitruckin besides readers rides. there are some kickass static drops out there but they dont get shot cause they dont have bags but they have a better looking mini than the guy with bags.

I agree that there are some nice static dropped trucks, and they would have recieved attention back in the early 90's. The sport has evolved and is still evolving, everyday the newest trucks are pushing the extremes and custom back halves just look alot cooler than a square block of aluminum.

wood, aluminum, a beer can filled with cement , it was just an example. I have nothing against blocks, every part for the yota was picked up with my dime which rides low with the help of aluminum .

i agree that the newest trucks are pushing the limits and doing things no one thought of.. I dont think I will never get bags b/c I like to be different. Today it seems that to be different you need to be static. I think bags are played out. everyone I know into minis has a bagged truck and Im tired of it. I may juice it just to be that much different but i dont know. but it costs money to be on the cover plan and simple. most of those guys send their stuff away to get it done. mine was built in my garage. i have th money to send it out but whats the pride in that? if i ever had to fill out a interveiw for MT and it said work done by.. i would say me and some friends. nothing was professionally done and the craftsmanship doesnt reflect that. i spent hours getting things right and i know many people do.

ohh well.  c'est la vie.

if you guys want to check out my ride.. here you go.
and YES THE BUMPER IS GONEEEEEEEEEE (long story on why i have it haha)

InsaneNOMA, what do you think of the bag combined with hydro setups that have been popping up?

I think its very innovative and very cool. If I did more research on how it works I could see myself doing something like that but it will take alot for me to have adjustable suspension. I just dont see what the awesomeness of having bags are. my friend has a dime on juice and I thought it was pretty cool.. fun to drive around in.

Now I know that I'm gonna take some flack for this but I think a REAL mini-trucker has at least one static dropped mini that they drive on a regular basis. Bags and other types of adjustability are cool-and I have 3 bagged minis-but nothing beats a super slammed static dropped mini. My s-10 has been super static dropped for 8 years now-x-member 1.5" off the ground-and I wouldn't change it for the world. Because when you get down to it when you have adjustability you CHOOSE to be low. Yeah, you can lay on the ground but if there is something in your way you can lift up over it-not bust it into pieces. My next mini will be static dropped in the front-again 1.5" off the ground-and bagged in the back-so if I wanna grind rear rail I can. To me this is the best of both worlds-dragging over speedbumps and grinding rear rails on the freeway. So I agree that that there are super nice static dropped minis and we should see them in MT but they have to be super low.

oh yah brad..
i was talking about super slammed.. not like a 3/3 drop in a mag. you know like a 6/7. low enough that you just say... DAYUM.

ok i love tha look of a straight up dropped truck be it 1/2 ton or not, i have 3 friends who slammed their s10s here in arkansas & they couldnt get 2 miles w/o draggin ass or gettin stuck on a speed bump, i my self have a 5/4 inch drop on my dime & have no problems out of it other than it rides like a rock & skips my cds over every bump and pot-hole, so naturally im leaning more twards tha bagged side. but i still dont have the money that it takes to do it, meaning im still stuck with a very rough ride.
(im not complaining, just stating tha facts)

tha neon is red, my truck is 2 & ile b Damed if my headlights are too lol
