there are some kickass static drops out there but they dont get shot cause they dont have bags but they have a better looking mini than the guy with bags.
Taking this comment about static trucks not getting featured, what about if a truck rolled stock wheels? completely stock wheels (stock rubber too...that's the eqivalent to a big rim/low pro tire, right? ) Would it ever have a chance of being featured? Completely sick truck, rollin' stockies.

wasnt there a green tacoma as a feature truck that had, not stock wheels, but stock size and big white walls. isnt that kinda the same issue? i dont think wheel size would make a huge diff if the combo you choose flows with the rest of the truck and it looks worthy. its all in the eye of the beholder no?
edit: my bad, the taco i was thinkin of is only in construction zone, not a feature that i could find.

JUST big wheels dont make the truck, its all gotta flow together. same as just bein super low dont cut it anymore, whatever ya do, gotta make it stand out from the crowd to get noticed. just my 2cent.

I don't think big wheels are that important. Here in the phoenix area everyone with a silverado or tahoe seems to be running 22's and 24's. Most are stock height and the rims are the only aftermarket equipment. I wouldn't expect them to get a feature just because they strapped on a set rims. I love seeing stock rims and tires tucked up in the fenders, and wish there were a few in the mag.

dude nothing is sicker than tuckin' stock rim/lug nuts. you just don't mess with that!! sleeper look has the biggest WOW factor. that's what I think.

My uncle had a dodge ram that came with a factory 20" steel rim spare tire. If I could find those in a chevy lug pattern I would just run those on my s-10, Maybe paint them red and run flat black on the truck.

Huge rims don't prove anything to me. Esp. on 4-cylinder trucks. They just slow 'em down. You gotta have the overall look, not like a parts catalog puked on it.

i say big rims dont matter the flow matters the most. if you start with a theme of a sleeper then throw huge a$$ rims on than it becomes a donk in my eyes, just like the cars you see with 28" or 30" rims and need the suspension lenghten for the rims. i mean its ok to have stockies or stock size for that matter so long as it flows.

In most cases you have to spend the $ to build a feature truck. They dont have to be big wheels but something custom.
That green taco is nice, the way it sits I'd say could be a feature truck. but those wheels arent stock. If it had regular yota wheels, no chance at a feature IMO.

the wheel combo on that green taco is worth about the same as a set of 18's with low profile tires. Consider that radial white wall tires are worth about $700. I agree with most people when they say its all about the package. if you can build a nice custom truck with stock wheels and pull it off it would be interesting to see.
In the magazine business its all about being innovative and being the first to showcase new and cool. And in my opinion if it doesnt have some kind of custom wheel it just isnt completely custom (let the bashing begin!) Ive always had a mini laying around the house on stocks or maybe a mitsu on nissan pathfinders wheels, (almost something custom, at least its chrome) and trust me i love it. I feel like i can go over any pothole and not worry about a thing. but i know that its not custom, and im not expecting a feature anytime soon either. When i get the chance ill always pick up a set of rims over stocks any day.
