Its possible that you broke a tooth off of your rear diff gears. If so whenever it rotates it will make a similar noise. Try pulling the cover and checking the ring and pinion. If not pull your drums and check your brakes there might be something inside.  

are the rear brakes drum or disc?  

the ticking is coming from the rear end? like near the tires? if so it could be your rear end bearings.
