I bought the truck a few months ago the guy told me check the oil once a week it burns oil never seen any sign of smoking but it did in fact burn oil. I put a lot of miles on the motor since I owned it prob like 20k in 3 months I do a lot of trips. This morning I woke up drove the truck down the side of my house to move some stuff back there a few hours later I went to move it turned it on and it started pooring white smoke out the exhaust I let it sit for a few minutes still pooring smoke then revved it up some and still it poored more and more smoke. I was just wondering if anyone has any info if it's the rings or valve seals. Someone on here said the valve seals on this motor should be changed at 125k miles my trucks at 190k it ran fine before and runs fine now but smokes like crazy. I took it down the block on a 10m drive got on it a little smoked then brought it home and let it sit running was still smoking but no as bad seemed like the hotter the engine got the more it stopped smoking as bad. If it is the seals can they be changed without pulling the head like a few other cars I know of? Thanks.

well either way you're gonna have to pull the head off. its not hard. make sure you have a torque wrench

My truck did this same thing till last night. I just got the truck 2 weeks agoe and have had to look over a few things. The guy I got it from said the choke was messed up and that he turned the idle up so it would stay running in the morning. Well I got tired of hearing it running at high idle so I turned it down and in the process found a vacume line off. this morning it was like 38 degrees outside and the truck started just fine and never smoked at all or stalled. The choke works fine too.
