I haven't really felt an earthquake for several years, until today, just about an hour ago. It seems like earthquakes normally happen during the night, so to get a decent sized one, during the day, while at work on the 2nd floor of a building, was nerve-racking.
It was a 5.4 in Chino Hills, which is about 30 miles from here, so we really felt it. It scariest part is that it takes a few seconds to realize that it's an earthquake. Then, you don't know how big it is going to get, how long it's going to last, and if it's really big somewhere else. It is soo creepy and eerie, and during, you actually have time to think about all this, as your adrenaline is rushing and you're trying to figure out how much trouble you're in for. And, this comes randomely while just doin' your normal daily routine. That's how fast it can all change.

Notice how many have happened since the 5.4...

 

ya that was nuts... I no longer like being 7 floors up!  

wow guys.. i heard about this all the way in canada..LOL..  we dont get earth quakes in alberta.. just tornados....lol.. when i was on  the west coast i remember waking up at like 3 am to take a tinkle.. when oll of a sudden i couldnt hit the pot to save my life..lol.. damn earthquakes..LOL..  i do long to be on the coast again..  so much nicer than here. the fresh smell of ocean.  a cool breeze on a hot summer day.. DAMN..

LOL . i feel for y'all on the west coast as far as earthquakes go , but at least you don't have to worry about hurricanes as much as we on the east coast (South Carolina) do . LOL . Trade ya natural disasters . LOL .  

naw, let's not trade. I think earthquakes can be fun... but then again, I DO like weather (which we get NONE of here). no. no trading.  

Wow, 5569! You must have some guts, because I was pretty much really scared when the earthquake hit! I don't think I would ever consider it fun, but idk if I would trade... This seems okay for now.  

I'll take an earthquake anyday... even being 7 floors up, we came through it ok... I'd hate to imagine if it was a hurricane or tornado that hit this glass building LOL  

LOL . I used to live in tornado alley when i was growin up . Talk about gettin really bad feelings in the pit of your stomach when ya see a storm comin up and it goes from like 95 deg to 68 in the matter of seconds . lol . Things to watch for with tornados (how to tell when one 'bout to hit) big temp drops , wind picks up out of nowhere . LOL .  

yeah that sounds pretty outta control. I've never experienced anything like that!
