hey yall, im a soldier stationed at Ft. Wainwright Alaska, i had a question about bagging a truck w/ the arctic climite in the winter...as cold as -60 in the winter. I have talked to people and they said that you cant bag a truck in this climite due to the sub-zero climiate in the winter. I was told it would freeze the airlines and bust valves..... i would really like to start this after i get back from deployment. I THERE ANY WAY I CAN BAG A TRUCK IN THIS WEATHER? IS THERE ANY TYPE OF WINTERIZATION KIT FOR AIR-RIDE? PLEASE HELP ME OUT!! THANK YOU arctic warrior

Well , i'm not sure if it'll last long up there , but when i lived in WV my S-10 was bagged through the winter . I just made sure i had a good airline dryer and used airline antifreeze in my tank (like for semi trucks) and had no problems . I'd be careful about usin it in the really cold days (i was in the AF stationed in Anchorage) . The really cold days might make the diaphrams in the valves too cold to work right . My advice is to contact some of the manufacturers and see what they say . Same thing with the bags . Might also look at some of the semi shops or ask motorpool what airline to use and how to winterize the air system . And , btw , you being up in Ft. Wainwright , you are in the perfect place to find out how to make an air system work in the winter . They have to keep the big military trucks runnin all through the winter .

there has to be a way to winterize a bag system, the Stryker runs on a air-shock systems, and to add on, everything is run off air...the brakes, the RWS the troop hatch. If e it requires some type of power to move it, it takes air

Well , like i said , talk too someone in motor pool and see how they prep their equipment for the arctic climate . I do know you'll need a good air dryer for your system to keep water out of your system . Motor pool would be your best bet i think . BTW , motor pool is the people in the Army that work on the military vehicles and equipment . Not to mention , you might be able to score some surplus stuff for your ride like an air system dryer and maybe air tanks and line .

I think that calling around would be your best bet. I live in so Cal and have no idea how to address those issues. Haha.
