well man depending onyour personal lvl of mech knowledge you could go several waysprobaboly the cheapest would be to go with a chevy swap v8 or the 4.3l v6 both you can find an ungodly amount of parts that wold make this the cheapest choices to go with. yet if you are not so sure about the interfacing then use a 4 cyclinder motor out of a newer tacoma these are basicaly the same as the 4 banger that came in there you will just have to get the computer and all parts at the same time, which most parts yards would make you a good deal on the bundle. as fars as gettting the mounts for the newer toy motor that would drop it down below the body drop hood hight that may difficult to find but personally i use downey for the parts on my yota there addres should be in any mt mag. hope this helps.

Buick v-6 swaps were very popular. they used to sell kits for that swap. check some of the 4x4 sites or yotascene.com

thanks for the info guys, i stopped checking this cause of the lack of response. just got 2 lil plates left an the cab of the body drop is done, still looking at engines.  thanks for those websites layedoutnissan there a big help.  i've been off work hurt so progress has been slowed down. def wanting to go with the small block chevy, maybe a ford if it comes down to size.  i've pretty much already decided i'ma have to cut out my hood to fit anything underthere
