Hey I'm Lorraine, I bought an 04 dakota about a year and a half ago, I put a set of train horns on it and i am just now getting around to lowering it. I haven't really done much with lowering a truck before so I can use all the advice I can get. I used to have a lifted Ram and I have a galant that I am in the process of lowering and I also share a lifted chevy with my dad as our father/daughter project. Well ne more info you need just ask.

Hey Lorraine, Sound like have a couple of good projects going!!! Is there a certain part about lowering kits that you would like cleared up? Do you have your kit yet? If so, list the parts that you have  

Thanks for the welcomes...I don't have anything for the truck as for lowering wise. Not really sure whats better for riding. I know about lowering cars and lifting trucks, but this is my first lowered truck...well when she gets there. So i guess i want to know whats better air bags, or shocks. I took it to a shop to get an estimate done to see what it would cost and the shop manager told me that they don't make a kit for and 04 dakota quad cab. didnt make sense they couldn't modify a kit but oh well. any input is def. welcome.  

So I finally found a kit online that sounds like it will work with out moding it. Never heard of the brand. Here's the link let me know what you think.

They are a great company (Hotchkis) . They do a lot with sports cars and such .

it really depends on what you want out of it.. bags can put the truck on the ground and will cost more to have a shop do it.. drop springs/spindles and all that would be cheaper  

Well cost isn't really an issue. I want something I can still do myself. I don't feel the need to pay someone else for something i can do myself...I like to get dirty and feel proud of the work I did.

I can really be draggin since she is my DD. But when I'm done she'll be pretty hot and low of course. I haven't done much work on her lately. Hopefully i will be able to get the cat done and borrow my dads welder to finish it up and get my better fuel mileage back. this 8 miles to the gallon is kickin my already broke ass. But i have gotten a lil more progress on the Galant done minus the distributor. I get my raise in a month and then it's going down! LOL  

Well as far as draggin and bein a daily driver goes , you CAN have both . That's what mine is . I have had no major problems as of yet . It is just a matter of how much work you want to do . If you bag it to lay out yourself , just take the time to measure and measure and measure everything . It is not all that complicated to notch and bag a truck , it just takes time and patience to do . If you take your time and measure everything a few times to be safe before cutting/welding and your welds are good , then no worries .  

well i may need just a lil assistance as this will be my first drop on a truck...And i think i may lean more toward just shocks and what not, just in case i for some reason trade it in later. not sure tho...but if ne one is close to me and wants to help..I'll bbq!! but that won't be for a couple months like i said before.  

Hi Lorraine, welcome! Leaning toward shocks might not be a bad idea, to at least get a feel for if you like it.
