what are your thoughts regarding using something other than an air tank... as an air tank....like a keg, etc.? What creative non-air tanks have you seen used as air tanks?

Do you happen to know what the PSI rating on a keg is?

I don’t have pix cause I haven’t done it yet. I told him I would do it, but he needed to go get the couplers to weld in as ports, so far I haven’t seen him or the couplers lol but I do have the keg, I guess that’s the first step Ha-Ha I don’t know about max pressure but I had it up to 125 and it didn’t explode. As with any "homemade" tank you should always use at your own risk and with caution!!

so I guess we'll figure this out by trial and error?! And if we're glad it holds 125 w/out exploding...hmmm... a lil sketchy! haha

Gas tanks I think would be to thin. I know that back in the day I have patched a lot of leaking gas tanks for oil field trucks and when I leak tested them I would submerge them in water and fill them with air (looked for bubbles) and even with the shop compressor it made the tank expand a little with only 90 or so PSI.

correction, I believe some ideas are in fact bad ideas, like... using a keg as an air tank.   hey see much it takes for it to explode, and get it on video, so we can see it!! that would be awesome

That would be awesome to make an exploding keg, but then it'll end up on youtube and middleschool kids will try it themselves and then somebody will end up missing an arm and then the fun is over.
