well, i have a 1985 s10 and right now its got the 2.5l I4 with the 4speed trans, and im really tired of 65mph at 4k rpm so im thinking about dropping a 350 that ive had since i was about 12 in there, right now the 350 is in my 75 elcamino but the frame on the elcamino is rotted out and the whole car other then the motor is just plain junk, anyone have any suggestions on how to do this? do they make v8 swap kit? or am i going to have to fab everything up myself?

also, what do you's think of a bagged sdime with a 350 in it???

ok yes i think they do now and you need the WHOLE drivtrain if u swap (in case u didnt know) but in my opinio i would go for a smaller v8 or restric the 350 because if your not careful you will wreck. but anyways and yes u probably will have to fab a little like the motor mounts and floor board. you will need to get a bigger radiator for it as well. for the rearend i would go to junkyard and try to find maybe a corvette or more modern rear end, there is a lot that u could use from the camino for they are usable. any more questions?

that pretty much answered all my ?'s right there, other then, do you think its possible to get the camino driveshaft cut to fit in the s10 after i find a rear end for it? and also i might have a new plan, instead of using a 40 year old motor that hasnt ran in 5 years that probably needs a re building any way, i might just sell the camino (which still bluebooks for $4500 in present condition) and use the $$ to bag and buy a new 327 or 350 crate motor from jegs.. so i guess in this case my ? is... anyone want to buy an elcamino? lol (i know this isnt where it goes im going to post it in classifieds tomorrow..)

why not get the running gear from a 4.3 dime, the tranny will bolt up to a 350 and everything should hold up to a stock 350. my buddy has a 89 blazer running all the factory stuff except the transplanted 350 and doesn't have any problems, and my other friend put a 383 into his 1990 4.3 fullsize with a stock tranny, driveshaft, and rearend with no problems.

yea but how long have they been like that. i thought about it, but you get to it and they arent going to last as long as drivetrain that is built for it.

corvettes have independent rear suspention so dont go looking for one of those.  transmission and drive shaft out of a 4.3L s10 will bolt up behind a small block chevy. driveshafts are cut down everyday with no problems.
go with a newer 350 that way you can run a factory serp. belt, and not the crappy ugly v-belts.
any more questions let us know.

srry im more old skool lol the older 350s have more nickle and i like thm better, and the driveshaft srry but i think its dumb, i know tht 4.3 will bolt on but, i wouldnt think they last. and i know about the vette rearends i just said go for it cause of the gears in them.

I know the plans have changed but for the record my buddies fullsize has had the 383 for about 10 years, and it will burn the tires before it breaks anything, he also had told me the serpentine belt setup from the 4.3 will bolt right onto the 350. The 4.3 is nothing but a 350 minus two cylinders, and if the drivelines hold up to a tuned up 4.3 they will hold up to a stock 350.
