hi,
i have recentgly decided to invest in a hilux & build myself a low lux. now heres the thing, i dont want air bag suspension, i just wanna dump it on it ass!!! but i am told there are certian types of hilux's u would need 2 buy in order to do this. for example i'm told if i were 2 buy 4WD hilux i wouldn't b able 2 dump it on its ass, as the suspension is 2 high? is this true? my reason is the 4WD hiluxs r slightly cheaper! can any 1 help me wit this? or maybe you have some suggestion as to where i could find this infomation or an answer to this question????
any help will be much appreciated
;>
thnx

Hmm... I see you're from Australia... so the question now is what year Hilux are you looking at?
The only Hilux that we have experience with here in the US would be from the late 70's early 80's. If you tell us a year we can equate it to the model Tacoma we have here.

you want a 2wd for sure if its a lil more money its still worth it if you want to lower it ...if its a 2wd older then 1995 you can lower it very easy by just loosening 2 bolts in the front to the torsion bars and add blocks in the rear and remove the center leafspring out back if you want to be real low...if its newer then 1995 then the rear is the same but the front has springs which can be replaced with lowered ones or cutting the stock springs down the amount you want to lower it....but bottom line is get a 2wd and if its newer then 95 beware of the prerunner (or whatever you mates call it downunder aye )its a 2wd but is on a 4wd platform so as long as it has 5 lugnuts holding on the wheels you'll be fine if it has 6 lugnuts it will be very hard and expensive to try and lower
