I'd be curious to hear if anyone has had problems with Chevy gas caps sealing properly... like 3 clicks only or else you could be damaging the seal... just throwin' it out there. Would be indicated by possible Evap System check engine light...

It's possible , especially if there's a lil dirt on the seal . good rule of thumb (never understood that saying) carry an old rag with you and wipe the seal off when you refuel . also a good idea to smear a lil petrolatum (vaseline) on the seal once in a while .

got me scratching my head, thoght all gas caps were pretty much the same. like TagDragger said, if you wipe it off and put some vasiline or white lithium grease on, it should be ok. i turn the cap on my jeep till it clicks once, then lock it. some folks go overboard, i guess.
I work to support my Jeep.....Nope, it's not lowered

I changed my gas cap, thinking the stock one might be damaged or not sealing (this was back when I needed to pass smog and had an evap code on), and it made no difference. It's never quite that easy, right?!

Nope , LOL . If changing the gas cap don't work , look at the vent and fill tubes , sometimes they get cracked or the clamps loosen a little . Or it could even be the evap canister or lines under the hood or lines leading to the canister from the tank . Also get the vacuum lines checked/changed , and there are a few sensors under the hood that'll trip an evap code too .

right, it could be pretty much anything huh haha! I passed smog last year without fixing it, so it won't be a problem again until next year, unless I can get the timing right to pass smog again
Here are some blogs on this....

some GM's are screwy and you have to use a code scanner to delete the code. i had to do it on my buddies mom's pontiac grand sport. here in jersey, the DMV with harass you about it and fail you just because the light is on.

yeah here you'll fail for the light being on too. And yeah clearing it turns off the light, but they know you haven't completed all the testing cycles (they know you've cleared it), so even if the light hasn't come on YET, it SHOULD be on, and they know it hahah. can't win.
