i suggest ditchin the tranny and finding a motor/trans combo that is similar length. if you can go a new motor and trans with the smae driveshaft, making or retro fitting your stock tranny member is an easy way out. try a pinto 4 cyl with 5 speed (or 6, they are avaliable). you can make mad power with those, and im sure they are very similar. I have one laying around here, with an auto behind it, but if youd like some dimensions, id be more than happy to give you some. also you could try mid 80s olds mobile 4 cylinders. They made a dohc motor that just looked sick, a lot like the old 30s jag motors, always wanted one of them.

You've got the F2 motor if you have a B2200.  That motor was also in Ford Probes and Mazda MX-6s.  The turbo versions of those cars had the F2T that will bolt right to your tranny too.  The '99 KIA Sportage motor (FE3) I'm (and a couple others) using bolts right up to the stock tranny as well.  Use your stock motor mounts, not the KIA ones.

Now, those motors are for FWD cars and the dist. will be pointing at the firewall in your truck so either swap out that unit w/ a crank sensor when you swap in the new ECU or do the Miata cam angle sensor mod.

I know the truck F2 had 8-valve heads and the car F2 had 12 valve heads so I'm not sure if you could bolt your truck head to the car block in order to use your truck dist.  A comparison of head gaskets may tell the tale.  I have seen people bolt on the exhaust manifold/turbo from the F2T to the truck head.  *Oh and BTW* You will need to modify the lower crossmember bar if you go w/ the KIA FE3.

Good luck!

My 87 b2600 4x spit up it's frame and I am parting it out tho I'm wondering if the motor which is very strong will slide into my b2200 xcab of the same year.  Anyone out there have some experience or leads?
