So far , knock on wood , i have yet to be towed home . I have always been able to macgyver something up to make it back to the homestead . Although there was this one time me and a few friends loaded my 72 superbeetle on a 3 place snowmobile trailer with me in it holding the brakes while we hauled it to my other buddies house to get his dad to get the engine running . I just rebuilt it and cought the crotch of my pants on fire trying to get it to fire . lol . Does that count ?
Of course i drag my tag . http://www.myspace.com/firerat6069 http://www.myyearbook.com/tagdragger4life

how about how many times hae you limped home with something broken? like mechanical.
for me, its been a good 3 times.
1) overheating (like 240+ degrees, running for 5 an then shutting down for 15) 2) slipped timing (scay back fires all the way home, was worried about fire) 3) blown brake booster - backfire blew it out, still driving without power brakes!

limped home eh . blew the center out of the flywheel on my 74 stepside full size 4wd and still drove the truck for a week , sheared all 4 dowel pins that hold the flywheel on my Superbeetle and somehow drove it home , valves on my superbeetle went out of adjustment took 2 hrs to get it to start and drove home on 2 cyl , broke the column shifter on my 81 chevy full size (3 on the tree) , severely overheated my 78 caprice racing a mustang and limped home before it crapped out (i won against the stang though) , raced a mustang with my beetle on the way home from school one day and beat it , but had a funny sound coming from the engine the rest of the way home , pulled in the driveway and hit the clutch and the engine siezed , and again racing a mustang(and winning) on the way to work in my 86 olds 88 spun a bearing and didn't hear it until i got to work and turned the radio down , oops , LOL , had a belt come loose from a front tire on my superbeetle , about 8 miles from home and drove it home , shredded a belt on my 84 monte carlo on the way to a job interview , pulled in to a jiffylube and swapped the power steering belt in place of it and still made it to the interview early , and i think that's all . LOL .

1.drug through front of leaf spring, didnt know anything was wrong until i pulled into a bay(leaf was flipped so it held in) 2.blown airbag on the freeway, found a block of wood to cram above the lca. 3.limped home w/ a blown head gasket, was fine until i got 2 blocks away and it popped a piston(drove 20 miles) 4. shattered rear end yoke on my old turboed ranger. i had a spool of heavy gauge speaker wire that i wrapped the *** outta it and drove away. 5. fuel pump went out that i just replaced the day before and i was on the street in front of the schucks that i bought it from. truck rolled into parking lot, they warrantied it, i replaced it in the parking lot, and drove off.

1. snapped u-joint off yoke. got towed home from 10 miles away on a trail. 2. melted the starter trying to get my truck to fire after i put in a 5-speed (turns out you do need the crank position sensor). drove it for 2 weeks until my next paycheck, i got pretty strong from pushing. 3. headlights went out 10 miles from home. i had to hot wire my driving lights. 4. tranny almost fell out when i did a burnout one time. zip-ties held it in all the way home. 5. fuel pump wiring got messed up. had to hot wire the fuel pump to the battery.
and im sure there will be many more stories of breakage to com in the future.
Check out my small and tall Jeeps and tell me what you think!

1.broke an axle in my 87 vw fox sliding around corners in the snow-use rope to tie it to my buddies 93 accord and dragged it home 2. inspection agencies's emissions machine was effed up and when they grounded it to my exhaust it fried my alternator-towed home 3. after the inspection incident i changed the alternator and went for a ride.. that night my battery died completely 10miles from home while i was driving AFTER all the autoparts stores were closed-left it there went back the next day swapped in a new battery got it home to find out 2nd alt. was a dud 4.alternator in moms car took a crap at midnight a few miles from home-pushed it into a parkinglot and called my buddy who drive a flatbed to come get it the next day 5.moms p.o.s had a bad knock but i needed to go somewhere.. that night i sezed the motor- towed home and sat til we sold it to a junk yrd 6.door poppers took a crap on my old civic at like 12:30 at night, didnt feel like jimmyin the inside handle in the dark so i put my elbow thru the window and replaced it the next day(counts as limping right? lol) 7.aquired an 89 GTI 2nd day had it i broke 2 axle bolts a mile from home so i replaced them with zip ties 8.after the zip tied axle i ended up replaceing one of the bolts but the other the inner threas were too stripped.. needless to say that lasted about 2 days before i bent/pulled 3 other bolts out of the housing and broke the other 2 which lead to the axle smashing into the trans and leaving a base ballsized hole (thus draining all my tranny fluid) so i zip tied every boly hole to the housing and drove it home a mile away doin about 12 all the way there..
i think thats it.. hahaha rough huh? (luckily nothing yet in any of my trucks knock on wood.. lol)
scrapin the streets of dirty south jersey...
